Chapter One-Hundred-and-Six: Nerd Alert

Image
It's hard to believe, but on May 30th, Luke and I officially had been together for two years. Honestly, I'm very impressed. Two years isn't super long, but we've gone through a lot together! We endured long-distance as well as becoming familiar with the aspect of living within walking distance. We've both celebrated with each other for prom, high school graduation, and starting college for the first time; however, we've also both been support through the bad, whether it's losing a pet or failing a test. Sometimes there would be a huge void in between us, and other times we would feel closer than ever. Prom 2015 Like I said, we've been through a lot, and we're happy! So, we celebrated that! Luke and I met at the Perot Museum in Dallas on a cloudy, late morning. I know it's hard to tell, but deep down we are both nerds. Especially Luke. But don't tell him I said that. ;) Anyway, for those who are not versed in the Dallas area or Perot ...

Chapter One-Hundred-and-Five: BFFs Take H-Town

So, May is coming to a close, and school is out for the time being. Coming home for many of us means reconnecting with parents (apologizing for not calling enough), finding or returning to summer jobs, and visiting friends from our hometown. After packing up my dorm and driving home with my dad, I packed again to head to Houston, Texas. My best friend, Kimmy, goes to school in Houston and has been begging me and our third musketeer, Victoria, to come visit her. And so we did!  Kimmy, Sarah, and Victoria Kimmy showed us most of her favorite spots in her city, including cute pubs, large chess, and of course her university! She actually works in admissions, so she gave us the grand tour with all the facts we didn't need to know. She attends a very small campus (less than 4,000 total students!), so the campus set up is very different than my huge school (35,000+ students). She showed us her different classes' buildings (which looked like little homes), the "labyrin...

Chapter One-Hundred-and-Four: How A Concert Broke a Long-Time Barrier

There is a phrase that has circulated within my generation, and I'm not sure if it's considered "dead" yet or not...but what I'm talking about is YOLO. I'm not exactly sure where YOLO stemmed from, but I do know Drake has a song that brings it up. Anyway, YOLO stands for "You Only Live Once". This phrase has been quoted numerous times when doing something that will most likely be regretted the next day (or minute, depending on how stupid the said action is...). Okay, so why am I bringing this up here? While I do think this phrase is used in ways that aren't always good or smart, I do think there is some truth to it. We should value the life we've been given, and use it while we can. I think too often we allow our precious seconds to pass by without much thought. This past semester has been quite a roller coaster. I've spent a lot of time in my room (or coffee shop) studying, I've spent a lot of time attending meetings, and I've...

Chapter One-Hundred-and-Three: Aesthetics

About a month from now, I'll be done with half of my college degree. How crazy is that?? It feels like I just stepped onto campus for the first time about a month ago... I vividly remember saying goodbye to Mom and Dad, meeting my roommates, and going to class for the first time. A lot has happened...and a lot has changed, too. I am so thankful for the time I've spent here, and can't wait to see what other memories I'll make in the next couple of years. But, before we get there, let's see what I've been up to the last couple of weeks!  Bailey, Martin, and I all stayed home Easter weekend, so we spent a lot of it together. Martin and I went shopping the Saturday before Easter, and then spent the afternoon eating delicious snow-cones and spying on prairie dogs. Strawberries and Creme; Fruit Punch topped with Watermelon Prairie Dogs Galore That following Monday (when everyone was returning to campus from home and Martin and I were still alone in...
