Chapter Seventy-One: Turn Down For What (Part II)
Around this time last year, I felt like I was on the brink of new adventures and discoveries. It was my senior year of high school, and so many things were happening. We had events such as Senior Breakfast, Senior Walk, and, of course, Prom. Last year I attended prom with my best friend, Luke Henderson, who later asked me out to be his girlfriend. It was such a fun weekend...I even blogged about it! (Read about Prom 2014 here)
Well, as many of you probably know, Luke is now in his senior year (and almost done, too!) which means he had a prom to attend as well. Which meant I had to get to prom one way or another!
Luke never disappoints, especially when it comes to asking questions. He asked me to prom last year with bell peppers and Little Debbie swiss rolls, sang to me when he asked me out, and this year was no exception to the wonderful ways of Luke Henderson.

"Will you be my Texas Flower at Prom?"
That's right! He wrote me a letter. It was a complete surprise to be honest! I, of course, had to add my own touch to it.
I can't just say yes...
So, on the Friday before prom, I jumped on a plane and headed back home. Personally, I love flying. It's thrilling and exciting and very impressive (How can a huge hunk of metal fly!??!). It was a very smooth flight...and it was so wonderful to be picked up my Mom and spend the rest of the day with her! I love her to bits!
"Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there"
Mom and I went shopping right after picking me up to grab some last minute accessories for my prom get-up. I didn't want to go too fancy since it wasn't even my own prom, but I think we did a pretty good job!
After a nice dinner with my family and boyfriend, and a terrible night's sleep, it was Prom Day! Again! I started off the day with some of Mama's homemade french toast, which was followed by a hair appointment with my Salonist.
Beautiful!!! But I'm a little biased....
An afternoon full of prom preparation later, I was finally ready. Luke swung by and we exchanged our corsage/boutineer, and then were headed out to take some pictures before we ruined our hair and wrinkled our clothes dancing the night away. Luke's Mom did a fantastic job at being a photographer!! I don't think I thanked her enough.
No prom is complete without a sweet picture with Mom! I think Luke's mom passed some of her photography magic to me when I took this (or her phone just has a really good camera). Look how sweet this is! Oh, I'm going to cry.
Lots of smiles and kisses later, Luke and I were finally off to Prom! The venue was absolutely beautiful! We instantly ran into a lot of familiar faces. I didn't tell a lot of people I was going to prom, so I know a couple of my friends were pretty surprised to see me! (I was surprised by other visitors, too!) The food was wonderful (Oh my gosh the cake was sooooo good), the atmosphere was elegant, and the friends were absolutely lovely. All in all, we had a wonderful time...especially during the occassional slow dance.

David and his date (also from college!), Yesenia
Luke was the best date I could have asked for. He really is a prince.
The party didn't stop when prom ended...we had to go to After-Prom! Luke and I changed into more comfortable clothing (I even said, "Can't wait to get back into my Nikes!") and headed across town to keep the party going. After-Prom consisted of bowling, air hockey, putt-putt, laser tag, multiple racing games, shooting games, and just a whole lot of fun with lots of friends!
We're weird after dark
We partied hard until 4:30 AM (I was running on fumes at this point) and then headed home. It took a little longer than we thought to get home, plus I had to get all my make up off, so I ended up finally collapsing into my bed at 6:00 AM. Pretty late, even for a college student.
I woke up later that day after six short hours of sleep. I had a plane to catch! My parents dropped me off at the airport and we had our goodbyes. With hope that summer is coming soon, it wasn't too hard to walk away this time. I'll still miss them like crazy, though!
Overall, I had a fantastic weekend. It was so much fun to hang out with Luke and have so much happen in so little time. As exciting as it was, it really wore me down. I still haven't recovered from my lack of sleep! Oh well. It was definitely worth it.
Besides, I had a wonderful prince by my side the entire time. Who would want to miss that?
