Chapter Seventy-Eight: Rare Creatures

Image
Happy Summer! Summer (the season, not the break) officially started June 21. Ironically, it was mostly cloudy and rainy here. Oh well, I'm sure we will get our fill of sunlight and heat as the season continues. Anyway, between now and my last update post (June 1), I've started an online class, began working for the first time, and celebrated a couple of things with loved ones. I feel like the word "busy" is mentioned at least once in every blog post, but I really mean it! I started training to be a waitress about 3 weeks ago. Although stressful at times, I'm definitely getting the hang of things the more practice I get! I'm now serving on my own in small sections (about two or three tables) and am really enjoying it so far! It definitely gives you a workout. My first day as a waitress...lookin' good and lookin' for tips! After graduation, I began my short summer class. Thankfully, it isn't too demanding, so I can (for the most part) easi...

Chapter Seventy-Seven: My Heart and the Class of 2015

Image
Read my post for the Class of 2014 here. I'm dating a graduate! Can you believe it's almost been a week since the Class of 2015 graduated? Heck, it's hard for me to believe I graduated over a year ago. While I most definitely had a connection to my class, the Senior Class of 2015 also has a very special place in my heart. The obvious reason for this is that my boyfriend, Luke, is a recent graduate; however, my love for the Class of 2015 started a long time ago. It seems to be a commonality for students to either better connect with the grade levels below them, with them, or ahead of them. This becomes extremely evident in junior high, because this is when the grade levels begin to mix in various classes. Don't get me wrong, I connected with the students within my class just fine. My very best friends are the same age as I am. For some reason though, I really felt a strong need to be there for the grade below me. Maybe it was because a few of my very special ch...

Chapter Seventy-Six: Sun Kisses

Image
Well, I guess you could say your favorite blogger has been a little busy since coming home. Not even a week after returning home, I was heading down south with my two best friends. Rebecca, my best friend's older sister, was getting married at Padre Island. Of course we were already invited, but since Kimberly was the Maid of Honor, that meant we were helping hands, too! Our home for a week We stayed in a lovely condo with Kim's parents, Rebecca and her two bridesmaids (Taylor and Maritza), Chris and his daughter, Michael and his family and Kim's little sister. You could say it was a bit of a full house...which made it all the more fun!  Kimberly, Victoria, and I (before the wedding) found time here and there to mess around at the beach. Thankfully, Rebecca was the calmest bride and didn't really require much help at all. We all spent a lot of the time before the wedding having fun!  Beach Babes The clock continued and before we knew it, it was the...

Chapter Seventy-Five: Everybody (Sarah's Back)

Image
Alright! A short few days ago, I said goodbye to my roommates and headed home. I seriously cannot believe I am finished with my first year of college! It was a fun, exciting 9 months full of new faces, new friends, new knowledge, and new memories I will never forget. God really blessed me with the best roommates, exceptional classes, and a lovely church community! I truly had a wonderful experience at the best university in the land.  First Day of Class/Last Day of Tests Thanks for the memories, Tech! As much as I want to return, I'm definitely ready for a break and some quality time with my family and friends.  After a long drive home, it was time to unpack all the boxes and bags I had packed in the last 48 hours. While tedious, it was nice to fill up my empty closet and drawers in my familiar, purple room. Later that same day, I invited Luke over to help me unpack. He came running to my door and we had an incredibly romantic chest-bump and we did our bro...

Chapter Seventy-Four: The Hardest Job in the World

Ever since we were little, we are all asked a very simple, yet dramatic question: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" When we were smaller, this question was pretty easy to answer. We wanted to be a beautiful princess in a far away castle with a moat, or we wanted to be a brave superhero who saved countless lives day after day. However, as we aged, we learned that these dreams of ours aren't as realistic or attainable as we had hoped.  Being in college, the most common question asked is "What's your major?" While this seems pretty simple, it carries almost the same weight as what we were asked growing up. What comes after the degree is the scariest part. The job.  Sometimes it feels like a competition here, where the Engineering and Science degrees are given a lot of credit for going into a tough future career. I'm sure that every career has it's ups and downs, and some are probably harder than others, I believe there is a job out there that i...

Chapter Seventy-Three: No Regrets...

Image
Here we are, already five days into May. I can't wait to come home, but I'm not ready to pack everything up...All in due time. Anyways, May has really started off with a bang. On the first day of the month, Friday, the Catholic Student Association threw a formal called Prom Redo...The cost was low with an optional dinner and mandatory dancing! (Ok, just kidding, you didn't have to dance...but dancing made it more fun!) Mary and I were naturally invited since we are at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church two or three times a week, but we wanted to make this an even better Friday night by inviting our roommates. So, a week before the formal, we promposaled to Bailey and Jenny! "Bailey and Jenny...We saw how pretty y'all were last year, so we were wondering...Will You go to Prom (redo) With Us?" We are happy to say they said yes!  So, Friday evening, we got all dolled up and dressed up. Our dorm looked like a typical girls' dorm, with shoes everyw...

Chapter Seventy-Two: When Will My Life Begin? (Reprise)

Image
Today is special. A year ago today, I started something I never knew I would even try to finish. A year ago today, I started something that I didn't know I would pour my heart into, day after day. A year ago today, I began a new path that continues to be paved. A year ago today, I began my story.  I've always loved writing. You can ask my parents. It started with my love of books, which was instilled at a very young age. I will never forget all the trips my mother and I made to the local library, and the fun that came with picking out a book (or maybe two, or three). I loved stories, and as my head was filled with stories, my imagination exploded. I, like any child, used my toys as a vessel of my imaginative stories. My plastic animals came to life day after day as I funneled my creativity, my stories , into them.  But I wanted more. Most children use journals to talk about real life, but I used journals to write books. My stories. I wrote about people in far-...
