Chapter Fifty-Six: Cold November Nights

Image
Jack Frost paid a visit to Lubbock this past weekend. We awoke Sunday morning to frosted windows and cold winds carrying snowflakes. We could not contain ourselves...we jumped out of bed and put on our best winter gear and headed out. We weren't the only ones. Snowball fights, snowman building, snow angel making...everyone who rarely gets a glimpse at snow was out. Bailey was visiting with her parents, so it was just Mary, Jenny, and I. We toured campus to get a look at the Texas Tech campus under a light blanket of snow. It sure was pretty...but very cold. After throwing a couple of snow balls and snapping a couple of photos, we headed back home. We treated ourselves to hot chocolate and a movie. Our last full week of school seemed to drag on. We all miss home and are tired of the first semester. I had a couple of tests this week, so you can imagine how busy I was studying. Luckily, when Thursday came around, we had the opportunity to relieve some s

Chapter Fifty-Five: Busy Bee (Hoping for A's!)

If you've been wondering where I've been for the last couple of days, blame college! This is the only excuse I can use, since I came to college for school...right?  Well, I totally skipped blogging about the game a couple weeks ago. It was probably one of the most anticipated games of the season...Texas Tech University vs. University of Texas!  I recently downloaded the app Yik Yak, which is an app where people in your area can post messages anonymously. Anyway, the entire week leading up to the game was just full of smack talk. I would open this app and be bombarded with constant jabs at UT. It was awesome.  Mary, Jenny, and I all headed to the stadium with our neighbors down the hall. It was a late game (6:30 pm), but we knew it was going to get packed in the student section pretty quick! We left a whole two hours early. Once we got there, we figured we could have waited a little longer...but those two hours really flew by!  Mary, Me, Justin, Victor, Alex, and Je

Chapter Fifty-Four: Major Changes (Pun Intended)

This is a bit of a follow up of my previous blog post. Like I said before...I am switching my major to Multidisciplinary Studies. I'm writing this blog post so you can kind of understand what has been going through my head these last couple of weeks. One, to get this off my chest, and two, because I have a lot of underclassmen friends that might be in a similar boat soon. In my life, I've wanted to be many things: Veterinarian, Journalist, Biologist, Pharmacist... The one thing I did not want to be was a teacher. Never, ever . Kids can be lazy and mean, and so can their parents. And don't get me started on administration. I just thought that career just wouldn't make me happy. And so I pushed all possibilities of looking into education under the rug, and never looked back. So, I came to Texas Tech as a Pre-Pharmacy major. I have been stuck on Pharmacy for the last two years (a little bit of Optometry sneaked in during this past summer). I have been preparing myse

Chapter Fifty-Three: Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! It's yours truly, Sarah, blogging on Halloween night. Sigh. Where did the time go? I remember dressing up as Tigger and getting loads of candy that was never eaten.. Oh well...Blogging is what I love! So, let's get started! This past weekend was full of sleep...and lots of it. I think I broke my record and slept well over 14 hours. College really screws up your schedules...eating, sleeping...all of it. Anyway, Monday was, well, Monday. Lately I've been craving Disney movies like no other; particularly The Princess and The Frog, Sleeping Beauty, and Peter Pan. Well, one of the cool things about the Texas Tech library (other than the multitude of resources, of course) is the multimedia center. AKA, movies. Disney movies. So guess what I did???? I checked them out! Brought to you by the Texas Tech library I wanted to wait until the weekend....but I'm just a tall 7 year old and watched The Princess and The Frog and Sleeping Beauty that day. Ye
