Chapter Twenty-Seven: Utilizing Summer

Image
I know I'm not the only one who is excited it's finally summer. We've all worked so hard in school; these three month breaks are totally well-deserved! Relaxing in the summer sun... However, as much fun as summer leisure is, it doesn't ever last long. It's nearly the end of June! And for a lot of us, we are all pretty busy. For example, I just got back into town from my Orientation. Orientation for every school is unique, but all usually have the same agenda. Initiation. Learning about the school, traditions, rules and regulations, benefits of choosing one school vs. another, and (best of all) registering for classes. Orientation for my school was two days of tightly packed information and fun. My head was swirling with new information mid-afternoon on the first day.  Me going through all the paperwork I was given Orientation was also great because my roommate and I finally got to meet each other in real life (We've been interacting via soc

Chapter Twenty-Six: Anxieties

Image
Raise your hand if you worry about things you shouldn't worry about. Meeeeeeeeeeeee Well, you're not alone. I do it, your sibling does it, your mom does it....we all do it. We all worry (especially your mother). A little bit of anxiety is okay because sometimes it motivates us, but I, along with many others, commonly slip too deep into the pool of worry.  I've been doing this recently, for a number of reasons. Some things were in my control (postponing writing thank you notes...sorry dear friends and family!), and some things I simply can't do a whole lot about right at this moment.  I am eighteen years old, but, honestly, I don't care what the law says I am... I am still a kid . And it's scary to grow up all of a sudden. In less than two months I will be living far away in a new, different place with new, different people, learning new and different things and this is one of the scariest things I have ever done. I know I can handle it, but that

Chapter Twenty-Five: Day Seven

Day Seven My family was reunited for our last day in Walt Disney's World. We decided to spend our last day in Animal Kingdom , one of the four parks of Disney World.  The iconic Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom  This park is basically a giant zoo; there are a bunch of animals like monkeys, macaws, otters, crocodiles, and so on scattered throughout the park.  Monkey! Monkeys! The park also has "Treks" where we can walk a trail and see animals.  A slumbering Tiger Sleepy Bats There was even a room on one of the Treks where exotic birds were freely flying about. This is particularly cool because many birds crossed our path...so close we could almost touch them! We called these Banana Pigeons, because they were yellow and looked like Pigeons! Cute little bird who followed us around! Colorful bird! Anyway, early in the morning, Dad and I went to go ride Expedition Everest ; a high speed adventu

Chapter Twenty-Four: Day Six

Day Six Today was a little different - Remember my Great Aunt, Aunt, and Uncle we visited on the way to Lake Buena Vista, FL? Well, Mom decided she wanted to visit them again. So, today, Dad and I had some Father-Daughter bonding.  However, before we could begin our journey into Magic Kingdom again, the hotel asked for our presence to advertise their Time Share program. Of course we weren't interested at all, but they gave us a free gift for going, so we decided to push through. ( they gave is free breakfast, too! ) Anyway, Dad and I made it out to the park around noon (our shuttle bus was 40 minutes late picking us up, boooooo ), which was just in time for our first ride together: Space Mountain . Completely in the dark, this coaster gives riders the sensation of traveling through space.  Space Mountain After this, we rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad . Set in Frontierland, this train makes crazy turns and stops in the Arizona inspired scenery.

Chapter Twenty-Three: Day Five

Day Five Today we woke up extra early because it was the day we were going to explore the biggest park: Magic Kingdom! Disney's iconic Cinderella's Castle Magic Kingdom is the oldest and biggest park in Disney World. It's separated into many different lands like Adventureland , Frontierland , Liberty Square , Fantasyland , and Tomorrowland . My favorite, of course, is Fantasyland. Especially since Disney has recently began expanding Fantasyland, calling it New Fantasyland . So now each of the princesses have their own little section in the park.  Rapunzel's Tower Gaton's Fountain in front of Gaston's Tavern Ariel's castle and own ride! Well, today my family and I rode some of the classics: Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean . I remember riding these all the way back in 2003...that's how great they are! Not only are they unforgettable, but the imagineering (engineering- Disney terms) that went behind these

Chapter Twenty-Two: Day Four

Day Four We woke up early today to  A.) get to the park sooner and B.) we had a shuttle to catch at 8:00.  So, today, I wore a Minnie Mouse inspired outfit. Black cami and black, flowy skirt with a cute red and white polka-dot over shirt. (The Minnie ears were added later on - thanks, Dad !) Minnie Mouse Me! Today we visited EPCOT . (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow), which is split into two lands: Future World and The World Showcase. Future World is all about showing the public the progress we have made as a whole, and the future progress planned in space travel, healthcare, education, and so forth. As a science-lover (and a Disney lover) this was pretty cool. I am not sure how I feel about all the advancements and "progress" the human race wants to step into, but we won't know what happens until, well, it happens.  Mom and Dad in front of the iconic EPCOT ball, which houses Spaceship: Earth. The other half of EPCOT is
