Chapter Seventy-Five: Everybody (Sarah's Back)

Image
Alright! A short few days ago, I said goodbye to my roommates and headed home. I seriously cannot believe I am finished with my first year of college! It was a fun, exciting 9 months full of new faces, new friends, new knowledge, and new memories I will never forget. God really blessed me with the best roommates, exceptional classes, and a lovely church community! I truly had a wonderful experience at the best university in the land.  First Day of Class/Last Day of Tests Thanks for the memories, Tech! As much as I want to return, I'm definitely ready for a break and some quality time with my family and friends.  After a long drive home, it was time to unpack all the boxes and bags I had packed in the last 48 hours. While tedious, it was nice to fill up my empty closet and drawers in my familiar, purple room. Later that same day, I invited Luke over to help me unpack. He came running to my door and we had an incredibly romantic chest-bump and we did our bro-hand

Chapter Seventy-Four: The Hardest Job in the World

Ever since we were little, we are all asked a very simple, yet dramatic question: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" When we were smaller, this question was pretty easy to answer. We wanted to be a beautiful princess in a far away castle with a moat, or we wanted to be a brave superhero who saved countless lives day after day. However, as we aged, we learned that these dreams of ours aren't as realistic or attainable as we had hoped.  Being in college, the most common question asked is "What's your major?" While this seems pretty simple, it carries almost the same weight as what we were asked growing up. What comes after the degree is the scariest part. The job.  Sometimes it feels like a competition here, where the Engineering and Science degrees are given a lot of credit for going into a tough future career. I'm sure that every career has it's ups and downs, and some are probably harder than others, I believe there is a job out there that i

Chapter Seventy-Three: No Regrets...

Here we are, already five days into May. I can't wait to come home, but I'm not ready to pack everything up...All in due time. Anyways, May has really started off with a bang. On the first day of the month, Friday, the Catholic Student Association threw a formal called Prom Redo...The cost was low with an optional dinner and mandatory dancing! (Ok, just kidding, you didn't have to dance...but dancing made it more fun!) Mary and I were naturally invited since we are at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church two or three times a week, but we wanted to make this an even better Friday night by inviting our roommates. So, a week before the formal, we promposaled to Bailey and Jenny! "Bailey and Jenny...We saw how pretty y'all were last year, so we were wondering...Will You go to Prom (redo) With Us?" We are happy to say they said yes!  So, Friday evening, we got all dolled up and dressed up. Our dorm looked like a typical girls' dorm, with shoes everyw

Chapter Seventy-Two: When Will My Life Begin? (Reprise)

Today is special. A year ago today, I started something I never knew I would even try to finish. A year ago today, I started something that I didn't know I would pour my heart into, day after day. A year ago today, I began a new path that continues to be paved. A year ago today, I began my story.  I've always loved writing. You can ask my parents. It started with my love of books, which was instilled at a very young age. I will never forget all the trips my mother and I made to the local library, and the fun that came with picking out a book (or maybe two, or three). I loved stories, and as my head was filled with stories, my imagination exploded. I, like any child, used my toys as a vessel of my imaginative stories. My plastic animals came to life day after day as I funneled my creativity, my stories , into them.  But I wanted more. Most children use journals to talk about real life, but I used journals to write books. My stories. I wrote about people in far-o
