Chapter Sixty-One: Goodbye 2014...

Image
As we all know, it is December 31, 2014. We are on the brink of a brand new year. Before we shout "Happy New Year!" I think it's important to review over all the blessings and hardships 2014 presented to us. 2014 aged me...literally. I turned 18 in January, which, to me, is a huge milestone. The year of adulthood. The year I had to renew my license. The year I started applying for credit cards. The year my life changed. In March, I went on a fun trip with my high school choir and orchestra to St. Louis, MO. We traveled by train, which was an experience in itself (I believe we spent 12 hours on a train...talk about fun and uncomfortable!). This was my first time seeing the city, and I really did like it. It was a bit smoggy, which I'm not used to, but the experience of seeing a new place and traveling with people I love was so much fun. It will be hard to forget. The Arch, the City, my Group, Ashley and I, the Old Courthouse In May, a lot of exciting things

Chapter Sixty: Merry Christmas!

Image
Merry Christmas! I hope your day was as wonderful as ever. I had such a great day...but before I talk about Christmas, I have to talk about the few days leading up to this very special holiday. This past weekend was full of cleaning in preparation of Christmas and my Aunt's birthday (which was on Sunday). Early in the week, I had dinner with Luke, his mother, and his step-father and helped decorate the tree. I didn't get to decorate my family's tree, so it was fun to do! Besides, you can learn a lot about someone by looking at their Christmas ornaments. On Tuesday, Luke and I went on an adventure. Every year, Gaylord Texan hosts ICE! (Click the link to find out more information!) ICE! is where hundreds of pounds of ice is shipped to the hotel and about 30 Chinese ice-carvers come to Texas just to carve the ice and create the magic. This year's theme was Frosty the Snowman...and it was absolutely beautiful. It always amazes me how beautiful these sculptures are.

Chapter Fifty-Nine: Dreamin' of a Busy Christmas Season

Image
It often surprises me how quick time can pass by. I remember when I was little(er) and a five-minute time-out seemed to last forever. Now? Five minutes seem to slip away faster than I can get my feet out the door. This Christmas season seems to be speeding right by...and not slowing down, either. I believe this is because I've grown a little older and, as my father always said, time seems to go faster the older we become. On Wednesday, to follow up from my Mommy-Daughter date on Tuesday, Dad and I had our own Daddy-Daughter date. We accomplished a lot of errands, had some pizza (his gluten-free), and shopped around at Half-Price Books, one of my favorite places. I picked up a couple of books, all of which I had been wanting for quite awhile. New Books! Well...new to me! One that I have been wanting for awhile is The Fault In Our Stars , by John Green. You've probably heard of it, since it recently was made into a movie. For those of you who have no idea what I'm t

Chapter Fifty-Eight: First Semester...Check!

Image
Hey gang! I am proud to say that I have officially finished my first semester at college! Hooray! I actually did pretty well, too. I made all A's (and one B)....surprisingly, I made an A in Chemistry (which caused me the most trouble), but I made a B in Statistics. I'm a little disappointed only because I thought I did a lot better on my final for Stats, but I'm pretty darn proud of myself! Also, I had a lot of credits transfer in due to AP and ACT credit...so I'm now officially considered a Sophomore . I was sure surprised when I saw my "Classification"! Despite this, I still believe I am a freshman...which is okay! Being a freshman isn't nearly as bad as being a freshman in high school (except when it's time to register for classes...then it sucks). A lot has happened between now and my last post. In the first week of December, I had another advising appointment. On December 4, I officially changed my major from Pre-Pharmacy to Multidisciplinary

Chapter Fifty-Seven: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Finals Week...

Image
Happy December! Before we talk about the last month of the year, let's talk about the last bits of November...more specifically, Thanksgiving. After spending three months in Lubbock, I finally got to come home. I took a bus to Dallas with many other students eager to go home. Jenny, my roommate, sat next to me the entire way. We slept most of the time (which is great, because it made time zip by!). We were dropped off in an old parking lot. Jenny's parents were already there, so I met them while waiting for my parents (they were stuck in traffic). Once my dad's van pulled into sight, my heart nearly exploded. I missed my parents so much! Not to mention my boyfriend, Luke (he rode in the car with my parents to pick me up). We hugged and squeezed each other for awhile, but I wanted to go home! I missed carpet (our dorms have linoleum and tile only), I missed home-cooked food...and I missed my pets! I couldn't stop cuddling with Jack and Bummie. Jack the Dog
