Chapter Sixty-Four: First Days of School...Part Two
Back in high school (or any schooling before now), the new semester never felt very...well...new. However, here at college, a new semester feels like a brand new start. It makes sense, since usually the new semester means absolutely new classes.
I'm especially excited for this semester since I'm starting to work towards my new degree. I'm also taking super interesting and, in my opinion, unusual classes such as Geology (+ lab) and an education class.
On the first day of school (last Wednesday), I only had one class. I woke up pretty late, but early enough to see the snow flurries that had welcomed the students back to class. I've never seen smaller snowflakes...I could barely see them! It was so sweet and a nice beginning to the school year.
In contrast to Wednesday, Thursday had three classes back to back. I sound like a real wimp, but I'm not sure how I did this in high school. It was quite exhausting to go from class to class for just under 5 hours. This also might have been quite difficult since I go straight through lunch. I don't think my eating schedule will ever be the same...
On Friday, after classes, we all gathered together and watched This is the End. This was quite a funny movie where the actors actually played themselves in a comedy about the Rapture. Pretty funny if you like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco, and many other iconic celebrities.
After lounging around, Bailey and I decided to work out. We haven't been eating that great at all since we've been home (the best decision I've made this week is buying clementines at Walmart). We changed and ran, push-up'd, sit-up'd, yoga'd, and hula-hoop'd. In the end, we had burned over 100 calories! Of course, this was pretty late in the day and we were a little hungry...so Mary, Bailey, and I grabbed a coupon and headed over to Sheriden's to eat Frozen Custard! (There go our burned calories...) Despite the seemingly wasted effort, it was still fun to hang out with my roommates. We missed each other!

This weekend was spent lounging around...and studying. It's a little hard to get back into the habit of studying...especially after a month-long break. Jenny, Mary, and I made a trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics (Yarn for Bailey's hat!), and then shopped a little in the mall. Mary finally got her high-top, red Converse shoes she has been wanting for quite a while. I got a couple of new sweaters (my weakness). One has the image of Rapunzel and Flynn dancing from the movie Tangled. I had to get it!! Tangled is my life!!
The image on my sweater
Saturday night, we watched 22 Jumpstreet since Mary was the only one of us who hasn't seen it. Since we don't sleep anymore, we watched another movie, 21 & Over, which neither of us have ever seen before. It was pretty funny!
Sunday was spent sleeping, studying, and going to Mass. Mary and I decided that after Mass, we would go study together at Starbucks. We felt kind of nerdy bringing our backpacks into church, but it was worth it when we got a lot accomplished while out! I finished taking notes over the first chapter of Geology...which rocked! (pun pun pun pun)
Today was a great day! In anticipation of my birthday, our neighbor, Dylan, brought his dogs for us to hang out with for awhile. This doesn't sound like such a big deal, but here's the catch: one of his dogs is a PUG.
Hershey the pug
Exploring campus
It was SO. MUCH. FUN. I love pugs so much!! I got to rub and pet and play and kiss this pug as much as I could (until she had to go home). I even walked Hershey around a little bit. It was so fun!! We got along great. Nestle, the other dog, was so sweet and I really respect her for not killing me since I barely gave her any attention (sorry, Nestle!).
"Equality" starring Mary
Hershey and I are easily BFFLs now. I can't wait until she comes to visit us again.
We were both extremely excited to meet each other.
Later on today, my roommates are taking me out to celebrate my birthday before we get back to school. I'm sure we will have a great time!
